There is one big question that every lottery player wants answered: "Which numbers should I pick to win the jackpot?" Basically, the EuroJackpot (like all lotteries) is based on the random principle, which means that the odds of each combination of numbers appearing in each draw are exactly the same. Nevertheless, it is well worth at least taking a look at the statistics, even if only to provide some inspiration.

We'll tell you which are the most frequently and least frequently drawn numbers and which winning numbers have won the biggest jackpots!

EuroJackpot - What Numbers Should you Choose?

The first EuroJackpot draw took place on March 23, 2012. On that Friday in Helsinki, Finland, the winning numbers were 5, 8, 21, 37, 46 and the euro numbers 6 and 8 were also drawn.

Since then a lot has happened and now jackpot hunters from 17 countries look forward to the weekly draw. We have compiled various statistics for the EuroJackpot lottery for you. Today, however, we are only referring to the frequency of winning numbers and the largest jackpots ever paid out since the launch of the multi-state lottery. Read on to find out more!

The Most Frequently Drawn Numbers

Two numbers share the distinction of having been drawn most often as winning EuroJackpot numbers. Numbers 19 and 40 have been drawn 41 times apiece. Just behind them are a queue of numbers sharing equal billing. 14, 16, 18, 25 and 33 have each appeared 39 times.

Looking at the bonus Euro Numbers, we find that the numbers 5 and 8 were drawn most frequently: 83 times each.

So we can say that the ‘luckiest’ combination of numbers is five from 14, 16, 18, 19, 25, 33 and 40 as well as the Euro numbers 5 and 8.

The Least Frequently Drawn EuroJackpot Numbers

Now we look at the other side of the coin - the least frequently drawn EuroJackpot numbers are: 48, 2, 36, 50 and a tie between 24, 27 and 31. The least commonly drawn Euro numbers are 9 and 10. A lot of people are of the opinion that lottery numbers which haven’t appeared as many times are ‘due’ to show up soon. While this is not how lottery draws work – each draw is entirely random and unconnected to the previous draw – it is still fun to find out which numbers have appeared least often.

The Biggest Jackpots over the Years

Of course, when it comes to statistics, we can’t ignore the biggest EuroJackpot prizes to have been paid out. We take a closer look at the biggest jackpots ever hit every year since the launch of the EuroJackpot. In addition, we'll give you the winning numbers that led to big jackpot luck. Maybe they will help you to get the inspiration to find your own lucky numbers!

A particularly unusual result was the EuroJackpot on January 6th of 2017. Remarkably, no fewer than 5 people from Germany (3), Denmark (1) and the Netherlands (1) shared the maximum jackpot of 90 million Euros at the same time. Each of them had the winning numbers 7, 14, 23, 27, 35 along with the euro numbers 3 and 5, earning each of them a cool €18 million. A very nice gift on the date known as ‘Little Christmas’!

Constantly Growing Jackpots

Let's look back a little further. The biggest Jackpot of 2012, the founding year of this multi-state lottery, was won by a player from Denmark. The winning numbers 7, 17, 18, 19, 22 and the two Euro numbers 4 and 5 brought him a total of €21.3 million on October 26, 2012.

Just six months later, on April 12th, 2013, a player from Germany topped that total. The numbers 8, 19, 22, 32, 40 and the euro numbers 1 and 8 proved to be lucky and he cleared almost €46.1 million. We had to wait patiently until September 12th, 2014 to pop the champagne corks again and to celebrate the biggest win of the year when €61.2 million went to Finland. The lucky numbers on this occasion were: 2, 9, 17, 25, 29 and the Euro numbers were 3 and 5.

On 15th May 2015, there was an air of anticipation across Europe because it was the first time for the maximum jackpot of €90 million. The whole lot was won by just one lucky guy from the Czech Republic with the winning numbers 12, 14, 18, 38, 46 and the Euro numbers 9 and 10.

Jackpot Joy

On October 14th, 2016, the jackpot joy was repeated! This time the €90 million went to Germany. The lucky numbers were 7, 10, 25, 39, 42 and the two Euro numbers 3 and 6 were the ticket to the EuroJackpot Millionaire Club for the fortunate winner.

Recently there was another €90 million jackpot winner to enter that exclusive club. The numbers drawn on the 9th of February 2018 were 7, 8, 24, 34, 46 with Euro numbers 8 and 4 and the winning ticket was bought in Finland this time around.

Even if we don’t have a secret recipe to determine the correct winning numbers in advance, one thing is certain: EuroJackpot is creating new millionaires all the time. You can bet on the EuroJackpot result online with Lottoland to win the exact same amount as the jackpot, so make sure you don’t miss out before Friday rolls around!
